As a Busy Mom, do you feel like your days can pass by in a blur as you rush from one task to another on your never ending to do list.

You’re constantly rushing to places for school drop off and child related activities?

If you’re anything like me, it can often feel like a struggle to keep our minds in the present moment as we move through our day. The reality is, as a busy Mum we have a lot on our minds, and it can take control of our thoughts and start to feel overwhelming at times.

All this means though is that we’re human and we just want to do the best for our family and little ones because we know they rely on us so much. So we HAVE to look after ourselves too, right?!

But if we don’t make time to slow down and be more mindful with our days, before we know it, we’ve blindly rushed through our day. And we’re already doing the bed-time routine and have no idea how we got to this point in our day.

If you find yourself craving more mindful moments in your day so you can be more present for yourself and your family, here are 3 easy ways to give yourself some much-needed clarity and presence of mind.

3 Easy Ways to Be Mindful

  1. In the morning think about 3 things you are grateful for in your life, and why. Research shows that those who focus on gratitude are more likely to be happy and cope with challenges in a healthier way. It’s also a really great way to get your kids involved. If your kiddos are only little it might be something that you build on over time. If they don’t understand the concept of gratitude yet, rephrase it and ask them what things make them happy. The concept is the same but it is in a way they can understand.

2. Find a quiet 5 mins in your day, grab yourself a coffee or cuppa, and sit in a quiet space looking out the window. No distractions. Then notice what you can see out the window?

3. Any time you notice yourself mindlessly rushing through your day, STOP! Take 5 deep breaths and slowly release the exhales. Focus entirely on that deep inhale and slow exhale, try not to let other thoughts take over again. Once you’ve completed your 5 breaths notice how different you feel and then carry on with the task you were doing. The breath can be very grounding and brings us back to the present moment.

Let me know if you struggle with being present when life gets inevitably hectic. How do you like to take time to slow down and re-centre yourself?

Take care & stay safe.
